Cognac Pellison

After Attraction, advertising, alcohol, whiskey vintage advertising poster for Cognac Pellisson. It was designed by the renowned Italian artist Leonetto Cappiello, who is often called "the father of modern advertising". Poster Details Artist: Leonetto Cappiello Date: Circa 1905 or 1907 (sources vary) Company: Pellisson Père & Co. (a French liquor company founded in 1814/1836) Style: Cappiello's signature style features bold, simple figures set against dark backgrounds to catch the eye of a busy city audience. The figure, sometimes described as a woman or young person, is whimsically struggling under an oversized cognac barrel. The warm yellow color of the figure's clothing is used to evoke the warmth associated with drinking cognac. History: The design was highly successful and the barrel-carrying character remained the brand's logo until the dissolution of the brand in 2009, after the company had been sold to Hennessy in 1973.
