Previously mounted Disneyland attraction poster vintage
attraction poster for the defunct Disneyland ride, the Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland
. This attraction operated in Frontierland from 1960 to 1977 and was eventually replaced by the thrilling Big Thunder Mountain Railroad roller coaster.
The Attraction
Timeline: The ride began as the tamer Rainbow Caverns Mine Train in 1956 and was significantly expanded and relaunched as Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland in 1960.
Theme: Inspired by Walt Disney's True-Life Adventure nature films, the slow-moving train ride took guests through simulated wilderness areas featuring over 200 Audio-Animatronic animals.
Featured Vistas: As depicted on the poster, the journey included scenes like Beaver Valley, the Living Desert, Bear Country, and views of Olympic Elk.
Legacy: Although the original ride is gone, elements still remain in the park. The town of Rainbow Ridge is now part of the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad queue area, and a tribute to the colorful Rainbow Caverns can be seen on the new ride's first lift hill. |
