Plot The story follows Ari Ben Canaan (Paul Newman), a passionate member of the Jewish paramilitary group Haganah, who attempts to smuggle 600 Jewish refugees and Holocaust survivors from a British internment camp in Cyprus to Palestine aboard a cargo ship named the Exodus. The film explores the political turmoil, the struggle for independence, and the conflicts between Jewish factions and Arab communities leading up to the 1947 U.N. Partition Plan for Palestine.
