Luna Luna

Mounted One Sheet promotional poster for the original Luna Luna art amusement park that opened in Hamburg, Germany, in 1987. The poster design itself is known as the "Archival Luna Monde Poster" and features moon graphics contributed by the various participating artists. The Luna Luna Project Luna Luna Origin: Conceived by Austrian artist André Heller, Luna Luna was the world's first art amusement park, bringing together fine art with the playful atmosphere of a fairground. Featured Artists: Heller commissioned over 30 acclaimed artists to create unique attractions and artworks, including the visionary artists Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Salvador Dalí, David Hockney, and Roy Lichtenstein. The Poster Design: André Heller asked each artist to design their own unique "moon" graphic, which were then compiled into the poster seen in your image and used for merchandise and an exhibition catalog. Rediscovery: After its initial run in 1987, the entire park was packed into shipping containers and sat forgotten in a Texas storage facility for 36 years. Modern Revival: The project was revived and restored with funding from Drake's entertainment firm, DreamCrew, and reopened as the touring exhibition Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy in Los Angeles in December 2023, and subsequently in New York City in November 2024.
