This service was known for offering one class only: Economy, Speed, and Comfort. Ship Featured: The poster features the ship SS Bendigo, which was built in 1922. There were two ships named Bendigo; the one in the image is the earlier vessel from the 1920s, not the later cargo liner from the 1950s. Artist/Illustrator: The poster was designed by Stanley Charles Rowles. Approximate Date: The poster was issued in the 1920s, the decade when the featured ship was in service and the branch line ran the Suez route. Original Purpose: The "Branch Line" service initially ran via the Cape of Good Hope, but the Bendigo and her sister ships were later refitted to use the Suez route as advertised.
