Dates: August 5th and 7th, 1966. A related handbill also mentions a show at the Avalon Ballroom on August 6th.
Venue: Longshoreman's Hall in San Francisco, CA.
Artists: The poster was designed by the notable psychedelic poster art duo Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley.
Printing: The poster was created using a "split fountain" technique, where colors cascade from green at the top to blue, red, and orange towards the bottom. This process means no two original first-printing posters are exactly identical in color. Only about 1,000 copies of this first and only printing were made before the concert, making it a rare and sought-after collectible. |
