One sheet rare, original 1978 Star Wars "Birthday Cake" one-sheet movie poster. It was created to commemorate the first anniversary of the film's continuous release in theaters.
Poster Details
Anniversary: The poster was produced in May 1978 to mark one full year (365 days) since the initial release of Star Wars (later subtitled A New Hope) in theaters on May 25, 1977.
Distribution: This poster was highly limited, sent only to a small number of cinemas—around 250 to 280 theaters—that had screened the movie for an entire year. This scarcity makes original versions extremely rare and highly collectible.
Design:
The central feature is a blue-and-white tiered birthday cake, baked by West Hollywood's Cake & Art and photographed by Weldon Anderson.
Surrounding the cake are 11 of the original 12 Kenner action figures, including Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, and Darth Vader. The Jawa figure is the only one missing. |
