Historical Context The Zeebrugge-Harwich train ferry service was an innovation that began after World War I to efficiently and cost-effectively transport goods between the UK and continental Europe. Inauguration: The service was officially opened on April 24, 1924, by Prince George VI (then Prince George). Operation: The service was operated by the "Belgo-English Ferry-Boat Company".
