Film Title: The movie was originally titled "Revenge of the Jedi" during early production and marketing.
Title Change: In December 1982, director George Lucas changed the title to Return of the Jedi, as he felt that "revenge" was not a characteristic a true Jedi would seek.
Rarity: By the time of the title change, thousands of advance teaser posters had already been printed and distributed. Lucasfilm stopped the shipment and sold the remaining stock of approximately 6,800 posters to fan club members, making original prints a valuable collector's item.
