Plot Summary
Set in Vichy-controlled Martinique during World War II, the story follows American expatriate and fishing boat captain Harry Morgan ("Steve", played by Bogart) who attempts to remain neutral in the war. However, after falling for a mysterious American drifter named Marie Browning ("Slim", played by Bacall) and needing money, he becomes entangled in the French Resistance's efforts to transport fighters on the run from the local authorities.
