Bookshop Santa Cruz
History: The independent bookstore first opened in downtown Santa Cruz, California, in 1966 and has been a multi-generational family business owned by the Coonerty family since 1973.
Location: The poster features the original address at 1547 Pacific Garden Mall. The store was heavily damaged in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake but survived with community support and operated out of a tent (Booktent Santa Cruz) for three years before moving to its current location.
Community Role: The bookshop is known for its strong community ties and has been voted "Best Bookstore" in Santa Cruz County for over 25 consecutive years. |
