Plot The story follows the Three Mesquiteers (Stony Brooke played by John Wayne, Tucson Smith played by Ray Corrigan, and Lullaby Joslin played by Max Terhune) as they help a circus owner, Nancy Evans (Carole Landis), save her inherited ranch from her unscrupulous business partners. The villains attempt to sabotage her circus and force her to sell the valuable property.
The Series The "Three Mesquiteers" was a prolific series of 51 films produced by Republic Pictures between 1936 and 1943. The name is a play on the plant mesquite and the novel The Three Musketeers. John Wayne played the lead character Stony Brooke in eight of the films in 1938 and 1939. |
