Sven Birger Sandzén was a prominent artist known for his vibrant, post-Impressionistic landscapes of the American Midwest and Southwest, particularly Kansas and Colorado. He was born in Sweden and emigrated to the U.S. in 1894 to teach art at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas, where he remained on the faculty for over fifty years. While known for his colorful oil paintings, he was also a prolific and talented printmaker, producing hundreds of lithographs, woodcuts, and linocuts. |
