Custom Cycle Show

Mounted Small Flyer historical artifact from the Fourth Annual Motorcycle Custom and Trade Show held in Cleveland, Ohio, on March 5–7, 1971. The event was organized by the Cleveland Competition Club, an American Motorcycle Association (AMA) chartered club. Event Details Date: March 5–7, 1971 Location: Polish Women's Hall at 7526 Broadway, Cleveland, Ohio Organizer: Cleveland Competition Club Purpose: The show was designed to improve motorcycling's image, with proceeds going to the Society for Crippled Children. Historical Significance The event is historically significant because it was the site of a deadly conflict between two rival motorcycle gangs, the Hells Angels and The Breed, which resulted in five deaths and numerous injuries on the night of March 6, 1971. The Cleveland Competition Club, which had never had trouble at its shows before, was caught in the middle of the "long-smoldering grudge" between the two outlaw clubs.
