The San Juan Intercontinental was one of over 80 luxury hotels developed by Pan Am through its subsidiary. The hotel quickly became a beacon for American tourists and a center for entertainment in the Caribbean during the 1960s and 1970s, hosting internationally renowned headliners like Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Nat King Cole, and Liza Minnelli at its famous Club Tropicoro nightclub.
