British Crown vintage poster is an advertisement for the original
Star Wars film (later titled Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope) and promotes its exclusive run at the Dominion Theatre on Tottenham Court Road in London, starting December 27, 1977.
The film had its UK premiere jointly at the Dominion Theatre and the Leicester Square Theatre on that date, several months after its blockbuster release in the United States. Demand for tickets was incredibly high, with people queuing from the early morning and tickets being resold by touts for significant markups. The Dominion Theatre became a notable location in Star Wars history, as its sequels, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, also premiered there in the UK. |
