Purpose of the Poster
The Empire Marketing Board was established to promote trade within the British Empire and encourage British consumers to "Buy Empire" goods. This poster was part of a large-scale advertising campaign that used vibrant, often idealized, images to foster a sense of imperial unity and economic cooperation. The Australian Wheat poster specifically highlighted the agricultural prowess of Australia to the British public. The EMB was ultimately dissolved in 1933 following the shift towards a system of imperial tariffs. |
