Australian Wheat

Australian Wheat (Poster) Antikbar 40 x 50 previously mounted, no additional work was performed vintage poster titled "Australian Wheat", created by the British artist Archibald Bertram Webb (1887–1944). It was commissioned in the late 1920s by the Empire Marketing Board (EMB). Poster Details Artist: Archibald Bertram Webb Title: Australian Wheat Medium: Colour lithograph on paper Year: Circa 1930 Commissioned by: The Empire Marketing Board (EMB), a British government body established in 1926 Printer: Chorley & Pickersgill Ltd, Leeds and London Purpose of the Poster The Empire Marketing Board was established to promote trade within the British Empire and encourage British consumers to "Buy Empire" goods. This poster was part of a large-scale advertising campaign that used vibrant, often idealized, images to foster a sense of imperial unity and economic cooperation. The Australian Wheat poster specifically highlighted the agricultural prowess of Australia to the British public. The EMB was ultimately dissolved in 1933 following the shift towards a system of imperial tariffs.
