Alien

Alien - Mounted (Poster) International 3 sheet movie poster for the classic 1979 science fiction horror film, Alien, directed by Ridley Scott. The film stars Sigourney Weaver in her breakout, iconic role as Ellen Ripley, along with Tom Skerritt, John Hurt, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton, Ian Holm, and Yaphet Kotto. Overview Title: Alien Release Year: 1979 Director: Ridley Scott Tagline: "In space no one can hear you scream." Genre: Science Fiction Horror Plot Summary The film follows the seven-member crew of the commercial space tug Nostromo as they return to Earth. Their journey is interrupted when their ship's computer, "Mother", detects a mysterious transmission from a nearby planetoid. Following company protocol, the crew investigates the signal, which Ripley correctly determines is a warning rather than a distress call. During the investigation on the planet's surface, a crew member named Kane discovers a chamber filled with alien eggs. A creature, known as a "facehugger," springs from an egg and attaches itself to his face. Back on the ship, after the creature detaches and dies, a small alien organism violently bursts from Kane's chest, killing him instantly. The alien, later identified as a Xenomorph (designed by artist H.R. Giger), rapidly grows into a deadly predator and begins to stalk and kill the crew members one by one within the claustrophobic confines of the spaceship. Ripley, the last survivor, uncovers a secret company directive to ensure the creature's return for study at any cost, considering the crew expendable. In a final confrontation, she manages to expel the alien into space, surviving alone with the ship's cat.
