Quad movie poster for the 1999 film
Rogue Trader, starring Ewan McGregor and Anna Friel. The poster design itself is a rare, withdrawn version because it used an image of a UK banknote with the Queen's head without official permission.
Movie Information
Plot: The film is a biographical drama that tells the true story of Nick Leeson (played by Ewan McGregor), a young derivatives broker who, through a series of unauthorized, high-risk trades and a hidden error account (88888), single-handedly caused the 1995 collapse of Barings Bank, Britain's oldest merchant bank.
Key Details: Leeson initially made large profits, but after the Kobe earthquake in 1995 caused the market to crash, his losses ballooned to over £800 million. He attempted to flee, but was eventually arrested and sentenced to prison in Singapore.
Based On: The movie is based on Nick Leeson's own 1996 book, Rogue Trader: How I Brought Down Barings Bank and Shook the Financial World. |
