Synopsis
The story follows Johnny Drake, a young sailor on shore leave, who falls in love with a mysterious woman named Mora, who works as a mermaid in a carnival sideshow. A sense of uneasiness develops as Johnny learns that Mora's previous boyfriends have all mysteriously drowned. The film plays on the ambiguity of whether Mora is a real siren, a descendant of mythical sea creatures who lure men to their deaths during a full moon, or simply a troubled young woman under the influence of her guardian, Captain Murdock.
