US one sheet vintage movie poster for the 1958 American International Pictures (AIP) horror film
How to Make a Monster.
Film Details
Release Date The film was released in theaters on July 1, 1958.
Plot The story centers on a veteran Hollywood make-up artist named Pete Dumond (Robert H. Harris), who is fired when new studio bosses decide to stop producing horror films in favor of musicals. In an act of revenge, Dumond uses a special, hypnotically-infused make-up formula to mind-control the young actors (Gary Conway and Gary Clarke) playing the "Teenage Werewolf" and "Teenage Frankenstein" in the studio's last monster movie, and commands them to murder the executives responsible for his termination.
Production The movie is a follow-up to AIP's earlier successes, I Was a Teenage Werewolf (1957) and I Was a Teenage Frankenstein (1957). The majority of the film was shot in black-and-white, but the final fiery scene was filmed in full color for a lurid effect, as advertised on the poster with the line "See the Ghastly Ghools in Flaming Color!". |
