Plot Summary
The story follows a trio of Americans—entertainer Julie Benson (Jane Russell), disgraced serviceman Nick Cochran (Robert Mitchum), and a traveling salesman (William Bendix)—who arrive in the Portuguese colony of Macao on a boat from Hong Kong. They become entangled with Vincent Halloran, a crooked casino boss who operates beyond the reach of the law (there is no extradition from Macao). When Halloran hears an undercover cop is arriving to capture him, he mistakenly targets Nick Cochran, leading to a web of mistaken identity, smuggling, and intrigue. |
