Moscow-Cassiopeia

Moscow-Cassiopeia - Mounted (Poster) Half sheet vintage Soviet movie poster for the 1973 science-fiction film, Moscow-Cassiopeia. The film is the first part of a two-part series (the second being Teens in the Universe) directed by Richard Viktorov. Plot Summary The movie is a family-oriented sci-fi adventure where a mysterious radio signal is detected coming from the Alpha Cassiopeia star system, a journey of many years. Teenager Viktor Sereda proposes a plan to send a crew of young adolescents on a faster-than-light spaceship because relativistic time dilation means they would reach their destination and return to Earth at a suitable age to share their findings. Expedition: A space mission to the distant Alpha Cassiopeia is assembled. Crew Selection: Because the round trip would take 52 years in Earth time, authorities decide to crew the ship with teenagers not older than 14, who will be in their prime when they arrive. The Journey: The ship, named "Zarya" (Dawn), launches with a young crew. An accidental stowaway causes the ship to exceed the speed of light and arrive years ahead of schedule in relation to Earth time. Sequel: The film is immediately followed by its continuation, Teens in the Universe (1975), which details the mission at the destination.
