FIS 1954 - After (Poster) One sheet vintage poster is for the 1954 FIS World Ski Championships held in Falun and Åre, Sweden. The event put these two Swedish towns on the map as major international winter sports resorts. Event Details Host Cities: The championships were jointly hosted by Falun (Nordic skiing events) and Åre (Alpine skiing events). Dates: The Nordic events took place from February 13–21, 1954, while the Alpine events followed from February 28 to March 7, 1954. Artist: The poster was designed by the Swedish artist Gunnar Dahlin (1905-1984). Historical Significance: These championships marked the first time women competed in events at the Nordic World Ski Championships, with the inclusion of 10 km and 3x5 km relay races.
