The Grateful Dead

The Grateful Dead - After2 (Poster) Concert poster vintage Grateful Dead concert poster, officially known as "FD-26" or the "Skeleton & Roses" poster. It was created to advertise their performances at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco on September 16 and 17, 1966. Poster Information Bands: The Grateful Dead and Oxford Circle were the featured acts. Venue & Dates: The concert took place at the Avalon Ballroom on September 16 and 17, 1966. The dates are visible on the poster as "SEPT 16" and "SEPT 17". Artists: The iconic artwork was a collaboration between artists Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley. They appropriated the central skeleton and roses image from a 1913 edition of the book The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, originally illustrated by Edward Joseph Sullivan. Series: The poster is the 26th in the "Family Dog" poster series (FD-26), promoted by Chet Helms.
Poster was washed and bleached, tissue was added to the back at the areas of paper loss. new paper was added and restored using airbrush, and colored pencil.
