One sheet vintage travel poster from around 1956 advertising Aegean Cruises in Greece by the ship M/V Semiramis. The poster was arranged by the National Tourist Organization in conjunction with Greek travel agencies.

Destinations: The poster lists several Greek islands as destinations, including Santorini, Samothraki, Delos, Kriti (Crete), Skiathos, Rhodos (Rhodes), Thassos, Skopelos, Skyros, Milos, and Mykonos.
Ship: The M/V Semiramis (formerly the Calabar of Elder Dempster) was purchased by Epirotiki Line in 1953 and is widely considered to have been the first dedicated Greek cruise ship, pioneering island cruises in the Aegean Sea. It remained in service until 1979.
Artist: The poster is attributed to the artist "Ilissos N.". Other sources mention S. Simitis as the artist for a similar 1955 poster. |
