Locandina vintage Italian movie poster for the 1963 musical comedy film
Bye Bye Birdie. The Italian title on the poster is Ciao Ciao Birdie.
Synopsis
The story is a satire of the fan frenzy surrounding Elvis Presley's induction into the U.S. Army in 1957. Teen idol Conrad Birdie (Jesse Pearson) is drafted, devastating his fans. His struggling songwriter/manager, Albert Peterson (Dick Van Dyke), and his girlfriend/secretary, Rosie DeLeon (Janet Leigh), concoct a plan for Birdie to perform a new song and give "one last kiss" to a randomly selected fan on live national television before he leaves.
The lucky fan is Kim MacAfee (Ann-Margret), a high school girl from the small town of Sweet Apple, Ohio. Chaos ensues as Kim's jealous boyfriend, Hugo Peabody (Bobby Rydell), and her overbearing father (Paul Lynde) interfere with the publicity stunt, leading to comical complications for everyone involved. The film is widely credited with launching Ann-Margret to superstardom.
