Historical Context
The poster promoted the Valdres Line (Valdresbanen), a 109-kilometer Norwegian railway that ran from Eina to Fagernes. The train was advertised as the "quickest connection" (Hurtigste Forbindelse) to the Valdres region, Jotunheimen mountains, and the Sogn region.
The Valdres Line was initially a private enterprise from 1906 until the Norwegian State Railways (NSB) took over operations in 1937. Original examples of this specific poster are now considered rare and highly prized by collectors. |
