"ReBoot: The Ride V2: Journey Into Chaos," the second of two IMAX Ridefilms based on the pioneering CGI animated series ReBoot. Released in October 1997, it was a motion simulator experience where viewers sat in an 18-passenger vehicle that moved in sync with a film projected onto a massive 180° curved screen.
Ride Plot and Experience
The ride's story involves a journey into the mind of the chaotic virus Hexadecimal.
The Mission: Guided by the wisecracking reporter Mike the TV and the scientist Herr Doktor, the audience uses a "Random Access Memory" (RAM) machine to explore Hexadecimal's memories and discover "what makes her tick".
Environments: The journey takes riders through surreal landscapes representing different moods and emotions, including foggy canyons, a childhood nursery, a nightclub, and a stormy ocean.
Characters: The poster features Hexadecimal (the large red figure at the top), Mike the TV (the yellow television-headed character), and Herr Doktor (the gray, robotic scientist character).
Historical Locations
The ride was featured at several high-tech entertainment venues in the late 1990s and early 2000s, including:
Sega City @ Playdium in Mississauga, Ontario, and Burnaby, British Columbia.
Circus Circus (Adventuredome) and later The Luxor in Las Vegas.
Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas.
While the ride film is beloved by fans, it is considered non-canonical to the main ReBoot TV series because its events conflict with the show's established timeline. In September 2025, Mainframe Studios released the full footage of the ride online for the first time. |
