Plot Summary
Set in early 20th-century Bavaria, the story follows a honeymooning couple, Gerald and Marianne Harcourt, whose car breaks down near a remote village. They are befriended by the aristocratic Dr. Ravna, who is secretly the leader of a decadent vampire cult. After Marianne is abducted by the cult during a masquerade ball, Gerald seeks help from the mysterious, hard-drinking Professor Zimmer—who has his own tragic history with the vampires—to rescue his wife and destroy the cult through an ancient ritual.
