Half sheet This art deco travel poster, titled
"Le Carnaval de Nice par les Messageries Maritimes," was designed by French artist Jean-Jacques Gaudinot in approximately 1930. It was commissioned by the French shipping company Messageries Maritimes to promote a four-day cruise to the Carnival of Nice on the French Riviera.
The artwork features stylized figures in masquerade attire, typical of the carnival theme, set against a backdrop of a large ocean liner and sailing yachts in the Mediterranean sea. |
