Festive Philadelphia

Festive Philadelphia - Mounted (Poster) One sheet "Festive Philadelphia," was created in 1970 by the American artist Samuel Maitin (1928–2004). The artwork is a colorful offset lithograph on paper, measuring approximately 38 x 25 inches (96 x 63 cm). It features a whimsical, abstract figure surrounded by hand-written text celebrating various Philadelphia traditions and landmarks, including: Foods: Soft pretzels with mustard and scrapple. Events: The Mummers Parade, the Folk Festival, the Army-Navy Game, and block parties. Locations: The Dell (now known as the Dell Music Center). Maitin was a prominent Philadelphia-based artist known for his bold, graphic style and his contributions to the city's public art and cultural identity. Original copies of this poster can be found in museum collections, such as the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields.
