Hupmobile

Hupmobile - After (Poster) Concert poster psychedelic poster, titled "Hupmobile-8," advertised a series of concerts held at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco from May 20 to May 22, 1966. Created by renowned artist Wes Wilson, it is part of the "Family Dog" series (numbered FD-9) and features a central image of actress Greta Garbo from the 1932 film Mata Hari. Concert Details: Performers: The lineup included Love (from L.A.), Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band (from N.Y.), and Big Brother and the Holding Company (the "house band" from S.F.). Historical Significance: These performances occurred just before Janis Joplin joined Big Brother and the Holding Company as their lead singer in June 1966.
