Movie Summary
The plot centers on a monomaniacal scientist, Dr. Laird, who conducts secret experiments with high-intensity magnetic fields in a rural English lab. His meddling inadvertently "punches a hole" in the Earth's ionosphere, allowing cosmic rays to bombard the area. This radiation causes local insects and spiders to mutate into flesh-eating giants.
A mysterious, benevolent alien known as "Mr. Smith" arrives from space to warn the scientists of the deadly consequences of their experiments before ultimately helping to resolve the crisis.
