Attraction size Fine art poster, Andy Warhol Cars
is a poster for an exhibition of the same name held at the Kunstmuseum Bern from March 2 to April 29, 1990. The artwork features four pop art-style images of a Mercedes-Benz racing car. The "Cars" series was a commission from Mercedes-Benz to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the automobile. The artwork was the last series created by Warhol before his death in 1987. The car model depicted in the artwork is a Mercedes-Benz W 125 Grand Prix racing car from 1937. The original "Cars" series was planned to include 80 pictures of 20 different car models, but only 49 were completed before Warhol's death. |
