Haunted Mansion

Haunted Mansion - After (Poster) Original Disneyland attraction silkscreen 1969 opening day poster for The Haunted Mansion attraction at Disneyland. Designed by legendary Imagineers Ken Chapman and Marc Davis, it was originally used at the park to entice visitors to the then-new ride in New Orleans Square. Meet the Ghosts The characters featured are the infamous Hitchhiking Ghosts, who appear at the end of the ride to "follow you home". While they were nameless when the attraction opened, they eventually gained semi-official names through fan lore and cast-member backstories that were later adopted by Disney: Phineas (The Traveler): The rotund ghost on the left carrying a carpetbag. Ezra (The Skeleton): The tall, skeletal ghost in the center tipping his bowler hat. Gus (The Prisoner): The short, bearded ghost on the right with a ball and chain. Interesting Facts The Slogan: The line "They've been dying to meet you" became one of the most recognizable slogans for the attraction and has been featured on various merchandise for decades. Original Style: The poster was created using silk screen printing, a common technique for mid-century Disney attraction posters that applied flat layers of color one at a time.
