The image is a reproduction of "Plate 147" from John James Audubon's famous book, The Birds of America. The original hand-colored engraving and aquatint was created by Robert Havell Jr. and John James Audubon between 1827 and 1838. The print depicts common nighthawks (Chordeiles minor) perched on and flying around a branch of a white oak tree.
