Rembrandt et Têtes de femme (Rembrandt and Heads of Women), from his renowned series, the Vollard Suite.
The Vollard Suite is a collection of 100 etchings created by Picasso between 1930 and 1937. The series was commissioned by his art dealer, Ambroise Vollard, and many of the prints depict themes of the artist and his model, as well as the mythological Minotaur. The specific artwork shown is plate 33 from the suite, created in 1934. The artwork's full title is often given as Rembrandt et Tête de Femme, plate 33 from La Suite Vollard.
The print was made on Montval paper, and its edition size was limited to 260 copies. The piece is a notable example of Picasso's mastery of etching techniques. |
