Picasso Cirque

After Fine Art Le Cirque (The Circus) from his Vollard Suite. The Vollard Suite is a collection of 100 etchings created by Picasso between 1930 and 1937. The suite was named after Ambroise Vollard, the art dealer who commissioned the works. The etchings reflect the neoclassical style of Picasso's work during that period. The works explore a variety of themes, including the sculptor's studio, the myth of the Minotaur, and portraits of Vollard himself. Le Cirque is plate 17 of the suite and was created on November 11, 1933. It is a drypoint etching on Montval laid paper. Some prints from the series are signed by Picasso in pencil. The etchings in the Vollard Suite were printed in 1939 but were not released until the 1950s due to Vollard's death and the outbreak of World War II. The suite is considered one of Picasso's greatest achievements in printmaking.
