Fine Art, Lithograph, Salvador Dali, La Conquête du Cosmos
The artwork shown in the image is an etching by Salvador Dalí titled "Infraterrestrials Adored by Dalí" from his series, La Conquête du Cosmos (The Conquest of the Cosmos). Created in 1974, the series was inspired by the beginning of the space race and reflects Dalí's fascination with science and space exploration. The complete series consists of twelve original engravings with lithographic color. The prints were published in two portfolios, Cosmos I (1974) and Cosmos II (1977).
The print is also known by the longer title, "Infraterrestrials Adored by Dalí at the Age of Six Because When He Thought Himself an Insect". The work features many of Dalí's signature symbols, including fantastical creatures and surreal landscapes. The editions were created using etching, lithography, and embossing techniques on various types of paper, such as Arches and Rives BFK. The prints are often hand-signed and numbered. |
