Fine Art, Henri Matisse, "
La Danse" is a famous painting by the French artist Henri Matisse. Created in 1910, it depicts five nude figures dancing in a circle against a background of simplified green earth and a deep blue sky. The painting was commissioned by the Russian businessman and art collector Sergei Shchukin.
A version of this image was published as a lithograph in the French art periodical Verve in 1939. The lithograph is notable for having a "frame" of yellow, blue, and black color areas, which is a key difference from the original large oil paintings.
