Chagall Suite #1

After Fine Art, Lithograph, Marc Chagall Visually searched image Thinking Searching Four Tales from the Arabian Nights is a series of twelve color lithographs created by artist Marc Chagall in 1948. The image shown, titled "Then the boy displayed to the Dervish his bosom..." is the first plate in the series. The series was created as illustrations for a portfolio of four love stories from the collection of folklore and stories known as The Arabian Nights. It was Chagall's first work in color lithography and is considered one of his finest works in the medium, with the literary source inspiring his signature style of loose brushwork and deep colors. The fantastic and evocative elements of the stories, which include djinns and flying horses, were a good fit for Chagall's art. This print was part of a limited edition of 90 signed and numbered impressions.
