The piece is also known by the title The Triumph of Dionysus or Le Char de Bacchus (The Chariot of Bacchus). It was created as a tribute to the Greek god of wine, Dionysus, who is also known by his Roman name, Bacchus.
The artwork features several recurring themes and symbols from Dalí's work, including the god Dionysus on a chariot and the iconic long-legged elephants that often appear in his art. The print was published in several editions on different types of paper, including Arches and Japon nacre. The total tirage, or number of prints, was 330 plus proofs. It is a signed and numbered edition. |
