U.S. ONE SHEET, 1947 RE-ISSUE POSTER, UNIVERSAL HORROR, COLIN CLIVE, MAE CLARKE, JOHN BOLES, BORIS KARLOFF |
Examination under black-light, microscope, light table, digital imaging and tactile observation. Documentation by Lindsay Simmons of Poster Mountain Inc. |
THIS POSTER WAS NOT CONSERVED, NOR RESTORED BY POSTER MOUNTAIN INC. Poster was received mounted to cotton canvas and an unidentified substrate. The mounting materials are trimmed to the poster's edge. Microscopic examination has determined this poster to be an original printing.
Examination under a light table reveals paper losses and thinness throughout the border and along the fold lines. There are 3 paper losses and fills in Frankenstein's face, and 3 minor paper losses and fills along the lower lateral fold line.
A tear measuring approximately 5" runs throughout the image of the table.
At the top right there is a diagonal tear measuring approximately 9" running through the word "SHOW".
Wax pencil can be read from the back: "Frankenstein" underlined twice and "0114" circled near the center.
PREVIOUS INTERVENTIONS:
Black-light examination reveals airbrushing in Frankenstein's face, the woman's dress, and in the text "THE MAN WHO MADE A MONSTER".
The border has been painted, and additional airbrushing can be seen in the orange of the title, the violet/blue colors, and the orange color around the lower text. Detail restoration done with pencil or brushwork is visible in the fold lines. |
