Examination by black light, light table, digital imaging and tactile inspection. Documentation by John Davis and Lindsay Simmons of Poster Mountain Inc. |
THIS POSTER WAS NOT CONSERVED, NOR RESTORED BY POSTER MOUNTAIN INC. Poster was received initialed by its owner, with a cotton canvas backing and Masa paper substrate. Examination under a microscope has determined that this poster is an original printing. Possible structural damage to the paper is evident by way of visible creasing. Creases are concentrated around all of the central fold lines as well as the upper lateral fold lines; this could mean the paper has weakened in those areas or suffers possible paper separations (delaminations) in those areas. Additional examination on a light table reveals missing paper sections in the right border (3) and left border (1).
PREVIOUS INTERVENTIONS:
Airbrushing of the entire border is visible under the microscope as well as to the naked eye where over-spray is seen on the Masa.
Examination under a black-light reveals the entire title has been painted yellow. Additionally, masking cuts can be seen on the interior of the lettering.
Restoration to the fold lines has been performed with a brush, or with a combination of brush and pencil. Very apparent restoration can be seen in: the green color blending done in the upper left quadrant, a large rectangular blue color section under the word "Massey", the light blue next to the "s" in "meets", the light green color above the woman's shoulder, and the blending done in her cheek and knees.
