One sheet "La Danseuse Créole" (The Creole Dancer), a vintage promotional travel poster designed by the master of modern art, Henri Matisse.Background & Art History The Technique: Created originally in 1950, this vibrant composition is an exceptional example of Matisse's famous "gouaches découpées" (paper cut-outs). Confined to a wheelchair later in life due to cancer and severe arthritis, he adapted by using scissors to cut pieces of painted paper, which his assistants arranged on large canvases.The Inspiration: The figure represents the famous American dancer and choreographer Katherine Dunham, who visited Matisse's home in France and danced in his studio while he completed sketches.The Poster History: In 1953, Matisse donated the original cut-out to the Musée Matisse in Nice, where it forms part of its permanent collection. In 1965, the French Tourism Board commissioned the renowned Mourlot Studios in Paris to turn this artwork into an official lithographic travel poster promoting Nice and the Côte d’Azur.

PM-LAPG certifies that any individual so named is qualified to the same extent as PM to perform the task. PM-LAPG has not authorized anyone to make a change to any item in this evaluation report, therefore, any change made to this evaluation is unauthorized and PM-LAPG will not take responsibility for it.
VI) The Client may not disclose or distribute this Evaluation Report to any potential purchasers of the subject property without first obtaining PM-LAPG's prior written consent.
