Service Model: The poster features the text "One Class Service", which was an appealing, affordable marketing strategy of the era meaning all passengers shared the same level of on-board facilities and freedom of the ship.Historical Background The Aberdeen & Commonwealth Line was formed in 1933 when the famous Aberdeen Line merged with the fleet of the former Australian Commonwealth Line. Operating a fleet of "Bay-class" steamships (such as the SS Jervis Bay and SS Moreton Bay), the company specialized in carrying migrants, mail, and cargo between Britain and Australia. The "Aberdeen" name was eventually dropped from the company title in 1938.
