Rocket Jets
Original Disneyland Attraction Silkscreen poster for the Rocket Jets ride, which debuted in Tomorrowland in July 1967. Designed by Ken Chapman, the poster features mid-century "Space Race" graphics and colors, promoting the ride's "fly one yourself" feature.Ride History & FactsOperational Years: The Rocket Jets operated at Disneyland from 1967 to 1997.Location: Unique for its time, the ride was situated on top of the PeopleMover track, lifting guests three stories (approximately 70–90 feet) above Tomorrowland.Design Influence: The rockets were inspired by NASA's Saturn V design.Successor: In 1998, it was replaced by the Astro Orbiter, which was moved to ground level at the entrance of Tomorrowland. The original ride mechanism was repurposed into the Observatron, a kinetic sculpture that still sits atop the old station.
