The Oracle/Satan Rising
Ultra rare, uncut pair of psychedelic posters designed by Rick Griffin in 1967. The sheet features two distinct works that are significant to San Francisco's 1960s counterculture:
Poster Details

The Oracle (Left): This design served as the cover for the February 1967 issue (#6) of The San Francisco Oracle, an influential underground newspaper. The central figure is a "psychedelic Jesus" flanked by mystical symbols like unicorns and a Star of David.
Lucifer Rising: A Love Vision (Right): Created to promote experimental filmmaker Kenneth Anger’s film Lucifer Rising. The central image of an eagle lifting a figure is an engraving by Gustave Doré from an illustration for John Milton’s Paradise Lost. The poster features occult motifs, including an Egyptian "All-Seeing Eye" and the number "666" at the base of the columns.

Key Facts

Artist: Both images were illustrated by Rick Griffin, a legendary figure in psychedelic poster art known for his work with the Grateful Dead and surf culture.
Uncut Press Sheet: Finding these two posters together on one sheet is uncommon; they were typically cut and sold as separate 14" x 20" posters by Berkeley Bonaparte.
Production Context: The Lucifer Rising poster was designed years before the film's final 1980 release. Early production was famously halted after a disagreement between Anger and his original lead actor and composer, Bobby Beausoleil (who was later associated with the Manson Family).
