Never Mind The Bollocks
Boo-Hooray one sheet promotional poster for the only studio album by the English punk rock band the Sex Pistols, titled Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols.
Artwork Details
Artist: The iconic artwork was created by English visual artist and anarchist Jamie Reid (1947–2023).
Style: Reid developed his signature "ransom note" aesthetic using cut-and-paste text and collage, a style influenced by radical politics and the Situationist International art movement.
Colors: The image you sent displays the green and pink color variation, which was used for the North American release of the album. The more famous original UK version featured bright pink and yellow colors.
Controversy: The album title and its public display were controversial at the time of its 1977 release, leading to a court case in Nottingham where the record shop was found not guilty of obscenity after it was argued that "bollocks" was an Old English term for a priest.
Legacy: The design is now widely recognized as a definitive image of the punk era and is included in the collections of major art institutions like the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A).
